Consider/Approve Recommendations from Textbook Adoption Committee

Background Information:

The Obion County Textbook Adoption Committees, being duly appointed by the Board at its October 2010 meeting and having met all requirements of the State, have completed their adoption process for grades K-12 Mathematics  textbooks and make the following recommendations to the Board:

Grades K – 5 Mathematics

  • SFAW enVision MATH Tennessee Edition by Pearson Scott Foresman Inc.

Grades 6 – 8 Mathematics

  • Tennessee Holt McDougal Math Course 1, 2, and 3 by Holt McDougal

Grades 9 – 12 Mathematics

  • Glencoe Algebra I by Glencoe/McGraw Hill
  • Glencoe Algebra II by Glencoe/McGraw Hill
  • Glencoe Pre-Algebra by Glencoe/McGraw Hill
  • Geometry by Holt McDougal
  • Advanced Math and Trigonometry by Pearson Prentice Hall
  • Pre-Calculus by Pearson Prentice Hall
These textbooks are recommended for a six-year cycle beginning with the 2011 – 2012 school year. The System must file a Certification of Adoption by the Local Board of Education with the State Department of Education prior to April 21, 2011.

Staff Recommendation:

Based on this Committee’s recommendations, I recommend adoption of the above-noted textbooks for a six-year cycle beginning with the 2011 – 2012 school year.
